Rory Rennie – 3D Printing & Laser

Laser Cutter & 3D Printer Instructor 

As the resident Engineer, Rory teaches members on Laser Cutting and 3D Printing their next project. He operates our high-tech machinery at the east-end Makerspace and completes orders for customers in Laser cutting and 3D printing. He makes a wide variety of items using high-tech, from signs and model homes to game boards and replacement parts. He is a recent graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies from Humber College.

Become a Tool Ninja

Have a Trade or Tool skill set to offer? 

Join our community of Makers with our Tool Ninja program! We’re looking for trades people and individuals with tech or tool skills to train our members. Members will be able to select you for one-on-one mentoring and you’ll be offered a fee for your instructing. Also, if members are interested in hiring you for a particular job, we’ll help you get work with a profile on our website and promotion in our newsletter and social media. We cannot guarantee that you will be hired nor the frequency of paid work, but we will promote your services to our members. What we ask in return is for a small finders fee (to be negotiated) to help us maintain our operations and programs.

Michelle Mismash – Youth Skills

Youth Skills Instructor 

Michelle is our resident Youth Programming Coordinator and trains children and teenagers of all ages in becoming “Mini-Makers” in our Summer Camp and Youth Programs.  She has worked for over a year at the Tool Library as  lead youth instructor, offering kids ages 4 – 17 a variety of skills-based training in woodworking, robotics and 3D printing. Michelle is a certified educator with Chicago Public Schools and previously she worked as an ESL teacher in South Korea for two years. When she is not working with kids, she is the Crew leader for Habitat for Humanity Toronto. This year, she is studying for her Masters at OISE.
