does 3D printing create excitement among our Young Makers, as they learn to design and think in 3D, new possibilities for learning are revealed and problem solving skills are increased.

From the basics to advanced modeling, choose the workshop that suits your Young Maker best!

 

These workshops are suitable for Young Makers age 8+


 

Intro to 3D Printing and Modelingthe-basics-4

Young Makers will learn a little of the history behind 3D Printing, the basics of how the printers work, and how to upload a file to Toronto Tool Library’s MakerBot 3D Printer. They will be introduced to TinkerCAD – an easy, browser-based 3D design and modeling tool – where Young Makers will work to design their own object* to be printed.

Time: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Level Up: 3D Printing and Modelingnext-leveldesign-3

Once your Young Maker knows the basics of 3D Printing, there’s a whole new world of creation to explore! In this workshop, Young Makers will create their own accounts with TinkerCaD – an easy, browser-based 3D design and modeling tool – to begin exploring the many things they can do. They will be guided through advanced design techniques, and given a design challenge*!

Date: December 28

Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

3D Print Your Minecraft3d-printingminecraft

Combining 3D Printing with the very popular, sandbox videogame, Minecraft! Young Makers will dabble with building their own Minecraft character or building on a 3D modeling platform and will also learn how to export Minecraft models as 3D printable .stl files! Young makers will take home a print of one of their creations!

This is a two-part workshop. Young Makers will need to attend both sessions.
